At The Mindfulness Academy for Addiction and Trauma Training (TMAATT), we are committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in all aspects of our work. Our Ethics Committee plays a pivotal role in ensuring that our programs, services, and interactions with clients, scholars, colleagues, and stakeholders align with these principles.
Our Commitment to Ethical Practice
At TMAATT our commitment to ethical practice is rooted in our mission to provide research based exceptional training and support for mental health professionals and the clients they work with who are dealing with addiction and complex trauma. We firmly believe that ethical conduct within our TMAATT community, as well as the ethical conduct of the mental health professionals who are attending or have attended the MBATT or MBRC training or any of the TMAATT certification trainings, or those scholars who have completed the MBATT or MBRC training and are Certified Mindfulness Based Addiction and Trauma Therapists (MBATT), or Certified Mindfulness Based Recovery Coaches (MBRC), or any mental health professional who has attended any TMAATT training or is certified through TMAATT it is essential to building trust, fostering learning, extending support, and creating a safe and supportive community of colleagues, all the while maintaining the integrity of our mental health profession and the healing services we provide.
Role and Responsibilities of the Ethics Committee
The Ethics Committee at The Mindfulness Academy for Addiction and Trauma Training is responsible for:
Reviewing Ethical Concerns: The committee reviews any ethical concerns or complaints brought forth by clients that work with MBATT therapists and MBRC coaches or any mental health professional trained through TMAATT, MBATT and MBRC scholars, or ethical complaints with respect to MBATT and MBRC consulting supervisors, students, staff, or other stakeholders.
Policy Development: We continually assess and update our ethical guidelines and policies to reflect the latest developments in the field and ensure they meet the evolving needs of our community.
Education and Training: We encourage education and training for our staff, instructors, and MBATT and MBRC mental health professionals, and MBATT scholars, as well as any other mental health professionals going through the TMAATT training to promote a clear understanding of our ethical standards and expectations, as well as the legal and ethical standards of their licensing boards or certification organizations.
Conflict Resolution: The committee serves as a resource for addressing and resolving ethical dilemmas or conflicts that may arise within our community, or concerns that may be brought to our attention that are occurring outside of our organization pertaining to an MBATT or MBRC, as TMAATT scholar, or any mental health professional who is attending TMAATT training or is certified through TMAATT. It is important to note that we do not supersede the licensing board or certification organizations legal and ethical guidelines for any mental professional.

The Ethics Committee at The Mindfulness Academy for Addiction and Trauma Training is guided by the following ethical principles:
Respect for Autonomy: We respect the autonomy of our scholar students and TMAATT certified mental health professionals supporting their right to make informed decisions about their own well-being, with the understanding that they will honor and follow the rules, laws and ethical guidelines of their licensing boards or certifying organizations.
Respect for Diversity: At the Mindfulness Academy for Addiction and Trauma Training, we cherish the diversity of our community and recognize the profound value it brings to our work. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive and welcoming training environment and professional community where individuals from all backgrounds, cultures, and identities feel respected and heard. Our commitment to diversity extends beyond words; it is woven into the very fabric of our ethical principles and our certification trainings. We firmly believe that embracing diverse people and perspectives enriches our understanding of mindfulness-based healing, as well as addiction and trauma, allowing us to offer more effective support to the clients we serve in our roles as clinicians and recovery coaches. We stand against discrimination in all its forms and are unwavering in our resolve to promote equality and celebrate the unique contributions that each member of our mental health community brings to our shared journey of growth.
Beneficence: We strive to benefit our MBATT and MBRC scholars, and all mental health professionals who have trained through TMAATT via any of our certification programs to the best of our abilities, with boundaries and support through our training and supervision, while holding respectful and mindful awareness of their well-being and growth as mental health professionals.
Non-Maleficence: We are committed to doing no harm, and we take all reasonable steps to prevent harm to all mental health professionals who have trained, are training, or are certified through TMAATT, as well as the mental health clients they support, and our TMAATT colleagues and community. It is understood that the TMAATT organization, founder, educators, staff and affiliates are not responsible for the choices and practices of any mental health professional who is certified through TMAATT or has trained or is training with the TMAATT organization.
Justice: We treat all individuals fairly and equitably, promoting diversity and inclusion while avoiding discrimination and bias.
Integrity: We strive to maintain honesty, transparency, and accountability in all our interactions and practices.
Confidentiality: We protect the privacy and confidentiality of mental health professionals, TMAATT scholars, and the clients they serve and support, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.
