Roles and Obligations of the TMAATT Ethics Committee
At the heart of the Mindfulness Academy for Addiction and Trauma Training (TMAATT) lies a deep commitment to upholding ethics, rights, and responsibilities. The TMAATT Ethics Committee is fundamentally dedicated to ensuring the highest standard of ethical conduct among all mental health professionals trained through TMAATT. Its primary goals encompass guiding mental health professionals in comprehending ethical benchmarks, safeguarding the public from any detrimental actions and supporting TMAATT in realizing its overarching objectives. Heading the committee at this time is the President of TMAATT, Darrin Ford, while its members constitute a diverse and multidisciplinary assembly of mental health professionals who agree to uphold TMAATTs fundamental values and ethical guidelines. The primary purpose of the TMAATT Ethics Committee is as follows: To support the TMAATT ethical rules and principles. •Discuss allegations of unethical behavior involving TMAATT members, consulting supervisors, staff, and in specific cases, potential members, scholar, and applicants. •Discuss unethical behavior(s) and recommend appropriate measures necessary in response to a complaint, with the understanding that TMAATT does not oversee legal matters and/or licensing regulations as licensing complaints are handled by licensing boards within that state or jurisdiction. •Present reports on complaints specific to TMAATT mental health professionals, including intricate cases that pose challenges and suggest appropriate next steps. •Establish regulations and procedures governing the management of all matters falling under its jurisdiction. •The TMAATT Ethics Committee ensures that all training activities, curriculum development, and interactions align with TMAATTs Mission Statement and established ethical principles and guidelines in the field of mental health training. •Discussing and assessing potential conflicts that are brought to TMAATTs attention, and addressing any ethical dilemmas that may arise in a confidential, professional, non- biased objective manner. •Upholding confidentiality of all persons and matters discussed within the ethics committee meeting. •By maintaining an objective balanced, boundaries, professional and ethical foundation, the ethics committee aims to ensure the delivery of high-quality, responsible, and ethically sound training that contributes positively to the well-being of individuals and communities who are working with TMAATT certified mental health professionals.
